Korzybski wrote Science and Sanity as a critique of 'science'1933 as much as anything else. He had posited that 'sanity' might depend on a practical understanding of the generalized attitude and approach required for positive time-binding (the successful acquisition and growth of useful knowledge). He called this attitude and approach the extensional orientation or method, encapsulated in his discussion of the Structural Differential (SD) in the book. With this as his measure (he had originally called the SD, the "Anthropometer") he rated 'science'1933— the date of the book's publication—as not entirely 'scientific' or 'sane'. Now what about 'science'2014?
